What is Ambient sound recording ?
Ambient sound recoding also known as atmo or atmosphere is a recording of a certain location that will be used in a film or a sequence
Films such as Hunger Games have used ambient sounds to create a certain feeling to the spectator.
The software they used was made by Dolby and the name of the software is Dolby Atmos Cinema sound.
Hard Cuts
In film hard cuts is a change from one scene to another without any sort of transition these are mostly not recommended if they are not used for a certain effect because they can ruin the atmosphere that the visual and audio is creating in the scene before .
Advantages of recording on the scene rather than using sound library
- Get the real sound not just an effect or a similar one
- Gives the scene more atmosphere
- Makes the scene more natural and gives it more life
- Makes it more realistic for the audience
Recording dialogue
Whilst recording a scene for a film it can be really difficult to record the dialogue as it may be interrupted by additional noise and ambience . One of the solutions is looping however if you can't loop
What is looping ?
Looping is something that is done after the filming when the actors over record dialogue in the studio.
