The purpose of dialogue in the clip is to build an idea of the characters to the viewer . It's purpose also is to set the scene so the viewer know's what is happening . More importantly the purpose is to entertain the viewer in this instance to amuse us . From this we also find out the target audience of the programme which are the youth suggesting from the type of dialogue used in the programme .
Characters
NATHAN

I think the tone of the character Nathan is mocking and sarcastic for example he says "No Offence , some people are born criminals " as the character of Gary responds " You're looking to get stabbed ? " he replies " You see my point there ? " this suggest that he likes to joke about and will most likely be the joker of the group to the viewer .
His volume of dialogue is clear and loud which creates an image of him being quite dominating and confident to the viewer which also suggest he likes to be in the centre of the attention most of the time .
Furthermore the accent of the character Nathan is Irish which suggest he is different from other characters as all of the characters have there own kind of accent . It is also very lyrical which suggests he ...
SIMON

In the 2 minute sequence the character of Simon doesn't speak which may suggest that he is shy or not very confident . It also mean he has no interest in being there with the other characters .
ALEISHA

Aleisha's character at first appears to be rude and apathetic as she answers her phone even though the instructor is talking . The way she talks over the phone suggest she doesn't care for example she says " Doing my community service ... boring as fuck " . This makes her look independent and unfriendly to the viewer which also suggest she doesn't want to be there .
Furthermore the volume of her dialogue is loud and clear which suggest she is confident and doesn't care if she gets in trouble .
Her accent is very girl like which suggests she likes to take care of her even though she might be a criminal .
This also suggests she might and try to flirt with the other characters later on in the series .
CURTIS

The character of Curtis starts to talk when Gary and Nathan are arguing . He says " This isn't going to work for me can I move to a different group ? " which suggests he has no interest in making friends or communicating to the other characters . Also the way he says it , suggests that he is annoyed with what is happening around him .
The vocabulary he uses is quite middle class and the way he talks is calm and chilled which suggest he may not care too much and feels above everyone else .
KELLY

The character of Kelly is presented as a typical chav by the way she talks which would suggest she is trouble . She has a Derby accent and her vocabulary isn't very clear and understandable , even though viewers may understand her the character of Nathan laughs of her accent like they couldn't understand her . However she replies with a rhetorical question "Do you understand that ? " and a middle finger which suggests she is easily affected by what others have to say about her .
GARY

Gary is also presented as a chav from not only his appearance but his first line of dialogue which he aggressively says to Nathan " You looking to get stabbed " which suggests he is easily annoyed and affected by what others say just like the character of Kelly .
His accent is a typical chav's accent and the vocabulary he uses is limited which suggest to the viewer he is lower class . Even though he may not be as smart as Nathan he is still quite confident through the way he talks .
